Playing Video from LAN Network -- Video will Not Resume Playing After Wake PC

Please read this in full to better understand the actual problem.
I have MPC Player and VLC Player (latest) installed. This problem only affects VLC Player; MPC player (and all variations) dont have this problem.
Any tips to fix this?
I have MPC Player and VLC Player (latest) installed. This problem only affects VLC Player; MPC player (and all variations) dont have this problem.
- Play a video that is stored at a LAN network location. Ensure it has a long enough duration and ideally large in size (e.g. a high-quality, high-bitrate movie).
- Pause this video.
- Put your PC to sleep/hibernate
- After 10 mins or more, wake up your PC
- Resume playing this video (recall it was in a paused state -- so click the Unpause button).
- Video will play briefly, but will stop playing soon after. At this point, the user has to click the Play button again, starting the video from the beginning.
- Increased the time for: Input/Codecs > Advanced > Network caching (ms) from 1000 to 5000. Didn't help.
- Nothing of use under Input/Codecs > Access Modules > SMB (and > File)
Any tips to fix this?
