Playing Video from LAN Network -- Video will Not Resume Playing After Wake PC

Postby brand404 » 19 Dec 2024 04:08

Please read this in full to better understand the actual problem.

I have MPC Player and VLC Player (latest) installed. This problem only affects VLC Player; MPC player (and all variations) dont have this problem.
  1. Play a video that is stored at a LAN network location. Ensure it has a long enough duration and ideally large in size (e.g. a high-quality, high-bitrate movie).
  2. Pause this video.
  3. Put your PC to sleep/hibernate
  4. After 10 mins or more, wake up your PC
  5. Resume playing this video (recall it was in a paused state -- so click the Unpause button).
  6. Video will play briefly, but will stop playing soon after. At this point, the user has to click the Play button again, starting the video from the beginning.
I already tried:
  • Increased the time for: Input/Codecs > Advanced > Network caching (ms) from 1000 to 5000. Didn't help.
  • Nothing of use under Input/Codecs > Access Modules > SMB (and > File)
It consistently has this problem. And again, it seems to only be an issue for VLC Player.

Any tips to fix this?
