How to move paused and zoomed-in video frame up and down?

In using VLC player in Windows. I'm looking for a way to move the video frame up and down (and left and right, ideally), when I paused the video and zoomed in. I found the hot key for zoom (z), but the hot keys for "Up" and "Down" seem to only affect the volume, and do nothing for the paused frame. How do I move the zoomed in frame so I can see what is on the bottom? Thanks!

Yea i too have had the very same problem. I ended up having to install MPC-BE player (has thumbnail preview scrubbing on the play bar too, which is a nice bonus) so i could do the very thing you describe. I don't think VLC developers put much thought into the zoom functionality -- a common pattern. The only tolerable, but incredibly inconvenient way, i found was to go to Extended Settings and enable Interactive zoom -- then u see an overlay at the top-left where u can zoom in/out in diff parts...horrible control design, but it is something. If you do install MPC-BE player, the zoom functionality is intuitively just using your 10-digit numpad -- e.g. "8" and "2" key stretch the paused (or moving) picture vertically while num keys "4" and "6" stretch it horizontally. The "9" and "1" key zoom in and out. Combine all the keys i mentioned with the CTRL key to move the image, while preserving the existing zoom/stretch u did.

Thank you for the response!
I found the Interactive zoom feature - thank you for the idea! I'm sure I'll use it in the future
My laptop doesn't have a numpad
