Postby drimis216 » 10 Dec 2024 12:26

Hi, we dream that VLC natively adds out of the box support for yt-dlp so that we can plaback video from more sites, I find these rare open source tools that may help to realize this ultimate dream please:

VLC 4.0 already has a module for YT-DLP. For VLC 3.0, you can always install an external one.

Great ! Thank you Mr Rémi for this happy information that makes us smile :)

So I was impatient and I installed VLC 4 beta months ago, I happily saw the long-awaited fit video option that allows you to stretch video and eliminate black bars on my small 10-inch screen, and I tried to playback youtube video but it didn't work, but it doesn't matter because I playback anime videos from a Russian site mail ru video and we hope VLC will support mail ru videos which in theory is supported by yt-dlp...

then sadly VLC 4 bea stops working abruptly with an error message so I uninstalled it....

we know VLC 4 beta still has to go through testing phases to reach maturity but we hope VLC 4 will be released soon, is it planned for 2025 or do we have to wait years because the version numbering of VLC 3 suggests VLC 4 is still very far from being finalized? we hope VLC4 will keep the support of windows 7 os 32 bits please and we are even ready to install VxKex :

https://github.com/i486/VxKex
https://github.com/Blaukovitch/VxKex

i use palemoon and basilisk browsers which are light and updated and compatible with my windows 7 os 32 bits and do not lag jerk with my weak old cpu, i read VLC 4 will drop the support of npapi plugin, even if my dream of seeing palemoon use vlc plugin by default instead of html5 did not come true, we hope please a prior consultation please between VLC team and Palemoon team and basilisk developer to examine the consequences of this decision on palemoon and if there are possible solutions if palemoon still needs VLC plugin to playback some media...thanks!

and we hope please Mr Rémi VLC 4 beta, if compatible with windows 7 os 32 bits, VLC will use the alternative version of yt-dlp for windows 7 os 32 bits made by Mr Nicolaasjan : this alternative yt-dlp is recomanded by official yt-dlp as fork for keeping support of windows 7 os, windows 8 os.... :

https://github.com/nicolaasjan/yt-dlp/releases

https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp/wiki/Forks

or we hope please VLC4 will add option that let us add manually unoffical alternative version of yt-dlp for windows 7 os to VLC 4, thanks !

Mr @Rémi :

import cookies to media player is important because users complain that youtube throttles bitrates when using external media player and yt-dlp has to import youtube cookies in some cases to fix this problem, we hope please VLC 4 will be able or add feature to import youtube cookies and then, VLC can playback youtube videos without risk of eventual throttle, thanks !

Authentication Options:
https://github.com/ytdl-org/youtube-dl/ ... on-options

https://mpv.io/manual/stable/#options-ytdl-raw-options :

--ytdl-raw-options=username=user,password=pass

cookies yt-dlp command line arguments
--cookies-from-browser firefox ( firefox does not lock the export of cookies to yt dlp unlike chrome, some users aid we should disconnect from our youtube account if this doesn't work and try again )

chrome --disable-features=LockProfileCookieDatabase --disable-features=NetworkServiceSandbox

Hi Mr @Rémi :

Today i find new secret great methods and tricks to add cookies to media player to skip youtube throttle and play protected twitter and facebook videos, it concern mpv player but maybe this can help the project :

https://github.com/akiirui/userscript/t ... y-with-mpv
https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/416271-play-with-mpv

yt dlp ytdlp yt-dlp format selection
worst / worst* /worstvideo / worstaudio /worstaudio*/worstvideo*/bestvideo/ bestaudio/
https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp/blob/m ... -selection

Try Pass cookies
For advanced users to view member-only videos.

Because userscript no permissions to access full cookies (like HttpOnly cookies), then manually export cookies only.

Open settings, Switch Try Pass Cookies to Yes.
Export cookies file manually (Chromium, Firefox)

https://github.com/kairi003/Get-cookies.txt-Locally
kairi.satellite@gmail.com

https://github.com/ReeganExE/open-cookies.txt
https: // chromewebstore. google.com/detail/open-cookiestxt/gdocmgbfkjnnpapoeobnolbbkoibbcif
