Capture from Dazzle DVC100

Postby giomach » 18 Oct 2024 16:13

Using VLC player 3.0.8 in Windows 10.
Open capture device
DirectShow
Video device name: Dazzle DVC 100 video (selected from menu)
Audio device name: Dazzle DVC100 audio device (selected from menu)
Clicking "Play" displays of "Capture failed: VLC cannot open ANY capture device. Check the error log for details." in a loop until program closed.

Pinnacle's Instant DVD recorder with "Dazzle DVC 100" selected as capture source works fine.
Any idea what is wrong with my VLC setup? And where is the VLC error log?
Thanks.

I upgraded to VLC 3.0.21. The looping behaviour is gone, and the video now shows, but there is no sound.

The start of the logfile is as follows:
-- logger module started --
main: Running vlc with the default interface. Use 'cvlc' to use vlc without interface.
main: playlist is empty
dshow error: couldn't bind moniker to filter object (0x80070005)
main error: Timestamp conversion failed (delay 300000, buffering 100000, bound 3000000)
main error: Could not convert timestamp 1182904869979 for araw
main error: Timestamp conversion failed (delay 300000, buffering 100000, bound 3000000)
main error: Could not convert timestamp 1182904879979 for araw
main error: Timestamp conversion failed (delay 300000, buffering 100000, bound 3000000)
main error: Could not convert timestamp 1182904889979 for araw
etc etc

Additional info: Media Player Classic, with the same video and audio devices, works OK.
