The image and the sound stop randomly some tenths of second

Postby vlc_123 » 21 Jul 2024 13:36

Good morning everybody. I have a Google Chromecast (sorry, I have to specify the model) since five years ago. From some weeks ago, when I send a mkv video (or another kind of video file) from the PC (Windows 64) to the TV, there are short stops of image and sound in a random way. I have tried to reinstall VLC and Chromecast, the problem continues. Any idea? Thank you so much for your help!

Please open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the playback, keep the messages window open during the whole process and then paste the full resulting log here or on Pastebin.com or on Justpaste.it if it's too long.

It's trying to use D3D11 but fails and falls down to D3D9:

Code: Select all

d3d11va warning: Unsupported bitdepth 10 for HEVC Main profile d3d11va error: FindVideoServiceConversion failed ... main debug: using vout display module "direct3d11" main debug: A filter to adapt decoder DXA0 to display YUVA is needed main debug: looking for video converter module matching "any": 24 candidates chain debug: Trying to use chroma I420 as middle man main debug: looking for video converter module matching "any": 24 candidates chain debug: Trying to use chroma I422 as middle man main debug: looking for video converter module matching "any": 24 candidates chain error: Too high level of recursion (3) main debug: no video converter modules matched main error: Failed to create video converter chain debug: Trying to use chroma I0AL as middle man main debug: looking for video converter module matching "any": 24 candidates d3d9_filters debug: Using Direct3D9 Extended API! dxva2 debug: D3D9 device caps 0x1BBEF0 / 0x51 dxva2 debug: Direct3d9 Device: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 10de 1380 a2 ... dxva2 warning: Unsupported bitdepth 10 for HEVC Main profile dxva2 error: FindVideoServiceConversion failed

According to these pages your GTX 750 Ti doesn't have hardware acceleration for HEVC:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nvidia_NVDEC#GPU_support
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nvidia_Pu ... ture_Set_E

So it's using the software mode and may struggle a bit for decoding HEVC 10 bits.
Try to update your video driver but I'm afraid your graphics card is a bit old for HEVC 10 bits full HD.

Sorry, I forgot: When I see a video film on my PC, this problem doesn't appear, only when I watch the video on my TV via Chromecast. Is this coherent with your conclusions? Thank you again!
