Please open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the playback, jump near the end of DVD and then paste the full resulting log here or on Pastebin.com or on Justpaste.it if it's too long.

Looks like there is something wrong on your system because D3D11 can't be used and it falls back to D3D9:
Code: Select all
direct3d11 debug: Created the D3D11 device type 1 level 9300.
direct3d11 debug: different 0000 device pci\ven_0000&dev_0000 vs pci\ven_1002&dev_9490
direct3d11 warning: failed to get the Configuration MatchingDeviceId (2)
direct3d11 warning: failed to read the Properties Display Adapter registry key (5)
direct3d11 warning: can't find adapter in registry
direct3d11 debug: Incompatible feature level 9300
direct3d11 error: Could not Create the D3D11 device. (hr=0x80004001)
direct3d11 error: Direct3D11 could not be opened
direct3d11 debug: Direct3D11 resources destroyed
direct3d11 debug: Direct3D11 device adapter closed
direct3d9 debug: Using Direct3D9 Extended API!
direct3d9 debug: D3D9 device caps 0x1BBEF0 / 0x71
direct3d9 debug: Direct3d9 Device: ATI Radeon HD 4600 Series 1002 9490 0
direct3d9 debug: Direct3D9 scene created successfully
direct3d9 debug: Direct3D9 device adapter successfully initialized
This might be a driver issue or a hardware installation / detection problem. What is your OS ?

I don't know if this was the same issue but here was the issue for me:
While watching Simpsons Season 6 DVDs on my Mac, and enabling the embedded "Deleted scenes" option while playing the episodes (what is called the "Seamless branching" technique to play additional content during a movie/episode on a DVD), the issue of VLC cutting before the end of the video was really visible as it was cutting a few seconds of video each time the episode goes to a deleted scene, and each time it goes back to the episode. Pretty bad as many jokes are placed at the end of a scene…
I asked ChatGPT for help and while it did not give me the right solution, it helped me tinker with some advanced VLC options.
What eventually solved the issue for me was setting the "Disc caching" to 0 ms (in the advanced VLC settings > Input / Codecs).
ChatGPT told me to increase the cache but when I did, it made things even worse. But putting it to 0 seemed to be the right thing to do.
Hope it can help others in the same situation.
