In VLC what ever my volume is 0 to 200 the volume stays the same. Sound is on. Also something is wrong with windows volume. Mute works but no adjustment works on VLC sounds.

If you are using audio pass-through, then that is expected, and you can thank Dolby and DTS for this antifeature.

Hey, sorry to necro a thread, but I'm having the same exact problems as OP. Changing the volume, whether it be in VLC or Windows Mixer, doesn't change the playback volume at all; it just stays the same. I didn't have this problem before, and it started occurring randomly just today. As far as I know, nothing got updated or changed, it just started happening. You mentioned audio pass-through, but I've searched through my settings for both Windows and VLC, and I can't find anything about disabling that. If I swap my audio output to something like my monitor, the slider works; however, if I have it on my headphones (which has its own sound card), the slider does not work.

Would you know anything else I could do to fix this problem, outside of what you've already mentioned?

If it doesn't work in the Windows mixer either, then it's an OS problem, not VLC's.

So either pass-through, bit accuracy or a bug in the OS audio drivers.

This appears to be a known problem in Razer audio drivers, if you are using that hardware brand
