Record Audio From Realtek Card

Postby Video_Ken » 01 Feb 2024 20:22

I have spent 2 hours reading old posts and trying things with no success.

I'm using VLC 3.0.20 on a Windows 10 machine.

I want to record the output of my Realtek sound card into an MP3 file.

I know this is not a hardware problem because the Audacity program does this fine.

I have already enabled the advanced features so that the record button is visible.

I've all kinds of variations under "Open Capture Device", but nothing works. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Make sure the Stereo Mix is enabled on your PC:
https://www.howtogeek.com/39532/how-to- ... ord-audio/

Then you can record it through the menu Media -> Open Capture Device
Capture Mode: DirectShow
Audio Device Name: Stereo Mix
Then click on the drop down arrow on the Play button and select Convert
Choose a profile (e.g., Audio - MP3)
Set the destination file folder and name
Click on Start

But frankly the best is do it with Audacity which is really made for that.
