Video and sound sync

Postby sam1951 » 05 Jan 2024 16:51

I'm converting my dvd collection to mp4 files with VLC. Some of the time it works flawlessly, however sometimes the mp4 gets created and plays OK in the beginning but towards the end of the file the sound begins to lag behind the video. It starts to get noticeable about halfway, until at the end it's a lot, many seconds.
I'm using the default choice -H.264+MP3(MP4). Audio bit rate is the default (128) and I have tried both 44100 and 48000 sample rate. When I get the audio sync problem I can use Make mkv and Handbrake to encode the dvd. That always seems to work but VLC is easier to use so I would like to do it that way.
Can anyone tell me where I'm going wrong here? I'm using both Windows 10 and Windows 7 computers

Try with a nightly build:

More info:

But ripping might be easier with Handbrake:
