Playback issues w/ 120 fps video

Postby DDE12 » 23 Dec 2023 23:35

I have recorded some 4k and 1080 video at 120 fps on my GoPro Hero 10 that are freezing, skipping, and losing frames during playback in VLC 3.0.20. This is on an AMD Ryzen 5 3400G, Radeon RX Vega 11, Win10 machine w/ 16 GB Ram and 2GB video memory. I am not having any issues on my 8th Gen Intel i5 so I am assuming that it is a hardware issue and hope I can get some advice on making some tweaks to get playback to work properly.

Please open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the playback, and then paste the full resulting log here or on Pastebin.com or on Justpaste.it if it's too long.

Also upload a short sample of your original problematic file to WeTransfer.com or Disroot.org and then post the link to the file here.

https://upload.disroot.org

If needed cut it with DGsplit and read here about how to do it:

200 MB max should be enough but a full complete short file is better.

Well, the Radeon RX Vega 11 is an integrated graphics card which is using system shared memory, and this is quite slow:

That said, I got some errors from VLC and FFplay:

Code: Select all

d3d11va warning: surface dimensions (3840x2176) differ from avcodec dimensions (3840x2160) ... avcodec info: Using D3D11VA (AMD Radeon(TM) RX Vega 11 Graphics, vendor 1002(ATI), device 15d8, revision c8) for hardware decoding

Are these errors due to the graphics card or is there a way to correct them? Ultimately, do I just need to get a new graphics card?

I'm not sure, let's hope a dev will clarify that.
