Can VLC rip to mp3

I want to get mp3's of individual tracks of a CD. The Windows program for playing audio CDs (probably inappropriate to mention the name, but you know the one I'm referring to :) ) is unable to rip to mp3 for this particular CD. I'm currently running a free version of VLC, which I would not expect to do all the functions of a pay-for VLC. What version of VLC would include ripping to mp3?

I'm editing this because I've learned that there is no pay-for version. It's free! Right? So, I downloaded the latest version, and I'm getting an error "Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'dvd:///L:/'. Check the log for details." I don't know where the log is.

TIA for your help.

VLC is unable to open the MRL 'dvd:///L:/'.

Looks like you're trying to play an audio CD as a DVD.
Make sure to tick the Audio CD option and the correct drive device letter in the Disc Selection from the Convert/Save menu.

Forum logged me off as I was composing my reply. I logged back in but I don't know whether it posted my reply. So here it is (again?).

Windows File Explorer doesn't differentiate between audio and video. That is, it shows DVD RW Drive(L:) for both. But when it's actually a video (movie) it shows the movie title. The disc that I want to play is an audio CD. It's confusing. One needs to figure out what the Windows developers were thinking.

When I open the audio CD with VLC, it said "VIDEO_TS VOB not found". When I clear that file name it says "No items match your search".

I have several .jpg screen shots but I don't find a way to include them in my post. Ahh, now I see Img in the menu.
I'll try that...
[img][img] Hmmm, I don't understand how to submit the Img. :(

Thanks.

Please, read my post again. Carefully.

Here is a pic to help you about what I said:

For posting an image you need to put a valid URL between the two IMG tags like this example:

I did read your post again. Carefully.
That didn't help me find a screen like the one you show as OPEN MEDIA.

Here is my opening screen.

I need you to tell me how to navigate to your OPEN MEDIA screen. OK?

Here are links to other screen that may assist you in following what I observed while attempting to get VLC to play my audio CD.
