Unable to concatenate MP4a

On Windows 7, VLCMP 3.0.11.

I do Media, Convert/Save, then this:

Image

then set profile and [x] Appends..., and have this:

Image

where

a) "Destination file" will not accept input
b) Clicking Start fails to concatenate the files as expected from advice on web - instead it shows:

Image

and creates three output files, not one.

I want a single file containing the three input files, concatenated.

All files have the same codec and codec settings - from ffmpeg.

What's up?

Similar issue:

I don't know if it's doable through the GUI.

FWIW, the VLC docs https://docs.videolan.me/vlc-user/3.0/e ... ideos.html say:
Merge videos together
This page will describe how the VLC Media Player can be used to Merge video files.
and it looks as if Merge is a misnomer, the operation in fact being Concatenate.

However that page is for command-line, not GUI.
from advice on web
e.g. https://www.animaker.com/hub/how-to-mer ... os-in-vlc/ . Though since this shows a critical dialog button Browse that's missing from the program itself, and it's an advert for an alternative program, it may be just a trick.

Also FWIW Avidemux might do this, though there's no mention in docs http://www.avidemux.org/admWiki/doku.ph ... ild:doctop .

It works, I've done it in the past.
You may also want to try with FFmpeg since you suggested you are using it.

Thanks.

Re FFmpeg, I'm hoping for a GIU alternative but thanks for the reminder.
