Hi I would like to stream from iptv and satellite up to four 4k channels simultaneously to record sports events from various channels. To play properly 4k i need to have hardware acceleration disabled. When playing 3 or 4 4k videos they are choking. I have Intel i3 10105. When i will switch to 12 gen Intel i5 12400f that will help? Thanks.

Have you checked the CPU and GPU usage ?

100% CPU and 28% GPU.

Too much stress for your system.

Intel 12400 will handle this?

Or maybe how to properly set hardware decoding? I have tried multiple settings with all settings and only disabled is working with 4k video's.

I really have no idea, how could I know ?

That's why you are using so much CPU. But TBH streaming four 4k streams simultaneously seems to be overkill to me, especially if your record them (lot of hardware accesses).

How I can play 4k video's with hardware decoding? I have tried several settings with automatic/direct9/direct11 with all output settings and all deblocking filters and I have problem with playing 4k files. They play few frames and then image stop and is only sound. I have up to date graphic driver.

Depends on the codec being used and the abilities of your graphics card.
On Windows 7 and above, Direct3D11 is the best choice.
Tools -> Preferences -> Video
Output = Direct3D11
Tools -> Preferences -> Input/Codecs
Hardware accelerated decoding = D3D11 Video Acceleration

When doing so, image show few frames and then freezes and is only sound. I have GTX 1060.

Please open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2)
before you start the playback, and then paste the
full resulting log here or on Pastebin.com or on Justpaste.it if it's too long.
Also upload a
short sample of your
original problematic file to Zippyshare.com or to WeTransfer.com and then post the link to the file here.

https://wetransfer.com
If needed cut it with DGsplit and read here about how to do it:

200 MB max should be enough.

You GTX 1060 should be able to properly handle this file:
Code: Select all
Format : HEVC
Format profile : Main 10@L5.1@High
Bit rate : 9 559 kb/s
Width : 3 840 pixels
Height : 2 160 pixels
Display aspect ratio : 16:9
Frame rate : 50.000 FPS
Color space : YUV
Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0 (Type 0)
Bit depth : 10 bits
Color range : Limited
Color primaries : BT.2020
Transfer characteristics : HLG
Matrix coefficients : BT.2020 non-constant
You should create a new report ticket on the VLC Trac with your above report, the links to your files and the link to this thread:

One issue that 3 4K HEVC streams might be using too much memory from the GPU. In 4.0 we use less memory for hardware decoding. In 3.0 you might reduce that amount by using a single decoding thread (instead of 3 you seem to set).
