Removing old or duplicate network shares

Is there a way to force VLC to re scan or remove / delete old or duplicate network shares?
I now have multiple instances of the same drive / shared folder that all / both work and point to the same location; however if i update or change the network share name; VLC shows both or all duplicates and the current share in the main shares list.
Windows has a similar issue where it won’t drop / remove unused shares but notice that VLC does it also
Is there an easier way than removing the app and re installing it?
The network / host pc is all windows based (hence posting here) but the shares show up on all devices; - android; iPhone etc
