I seem to have video problems, the videos that I watch keeps freezing. How can I fix this?

Try changing the Output module in Preferences (Ctrl + P to open) and then click the Video button. "Direct3D11 video output" works best for me, but without knowing which version of Windows you have installed together with the vlc version you're running it's too difficult to recommend any settings.
After making any settings changes click Save, exit and restart vlc.
