Postby cpm1a+_ » 16 Jun 2022 11:58

Default VLC settings:
Normalize volume to 2.00
Maximal volume level 2.00
Number of audio buffers 20

VideoLAN Wiki reсomended settings:

I guess it may depend on the audio output module being used. Let's hope a dev will clarify that 🤞

Which language setting are you talking about ? If it's about subtitles and audio then:
Tools -> Preferences -> Show settings: ALL -> Input codecs
The language fields are on the right panel.
For instance for English language type in "eng,en" (without quotes and without spaces) in the audio and/or subtitle language field.
Save the preferences then exit and restart VLC for the change to take effect.

VLC takes the language settings from the Windows operating system.

HOW? i am with WinXP

anyway, what about the differences in recomended normalization settings i mentioned in the first post? maybe VideoLAN Wiki reсomended settings are outdated: "This page was last edited on 5 September 2013"?

Menus language. just wanna know where my choice (EN-->RU) is stored. id doesnt seem to be stored in vlcrc or vlc-qt-interface.ini and these are the only files for saving configuration that i know of

You can force the menus language from the menu Tools -> Preferences -> Interface -> Menus language
Then save, exit and restart VLC for the change to be applied.
However, I have no idea where this setting is stored :?
