The Java Update released 4/19/2022 is not detected by any version of VLC, even after updating the PATH. What further can I do to get Java menus to work again on VLC?

I think this is the same problem I am having (I'm an idiot when it comes to software, so forgive me please). I'm trying to use the Skin Editor, and it told me that JAVA was not detected on the machine, and offered to download it. When I agreed a small dialog thingy opened up and seemed to start downloading JAVA. Then the dialog disappears and nothing further happened. So I went to the JAVA site and downloaded and installed it manually. And still the VLC Skin Editor tells me that JAVA isn't on this computer. I've tried placing things along different paths, but that still doesn't do anything to change what the computer/software keeps telling me.

Is this because of the JAVA update, or did I do something incorrectly? Please help!

A further mystery, after updating JAVA to JDK as some other threads prior have suggested, VLC crashes if I try to play blurays with menu enabled, what can be done to remedy this?

You should create a new ticket on the VLC Trac with your above report and the link to this thread:

It broke Bluray playback for me as well. Trying to load .mpls or .m2ts files after the jre-8u331 update was causing insta-crash to desktop 100% of the time. Re-installing VLC did not work. Rolling back to jre-8u321 fixed the problem for me.

To roll back JAVA visit the JVA website this is for MAC. https://java.com/en/download/help/mac_u ... _java.html.
For Windows https://java.com/en/download/help/remov ... sions.html
Once you have removed JAVA with above instructions then go the JAVA archives and install an older version of JAVA for your operating system
https://www.oracle.com/java/technologie ... 60-oth-JPR

When I was trouble shooting my MAC M1 I also removed VLC then removed JAVA Reinstalled VLC then JAVA then rebooted everything.
I installed VLC VLC (3.0.17.3) for MAC and JAVA jdk-8u202-macosx-x64.dmg
VLC is again working on my iso files showing all menus

I just performed my update as outline above by rtos for Windows 10. Rolled back JAVA for windows to jre-8u202-windows-x64.exe.
Followed above instruction for Windows and VLC is now working for .iso files showing Menus.

Fixed in VLC 3.0.18. Not sure when it will be finally released, but you can get rc2 here: http://download.videolan.org/pub/videol ... .0.18-rc2/
