May I please inquire does VLC support WAV files? In an attempt the audio output was exceedingly of low volume though another player i.e. to wit Power Media Player was successful. The list of supported audio file formats in VLC documentation does not list WAV which I find difficult to understand as I assume it is a common format. Kindly advise. Thank You

RIFF container format has been supported for over 2 decades. It's faster to test yourself than to wait for an answer here.

the member did indicate that he tested it but the volume output was lower on VLC than another player that he tested, which suggests the settings for "Audio" > "output modules" for DirectX, MMDevice & WaveOut > "audio volume", should be increased (to the maximum) in order to match the same volume as other players.
i use "WaveOut" and discovered the volume is not equal to several other external players unless raised to "2" (maximum).
this can be easily confirmed using a spectral/waveform display in dB measurement, if you feed VLC with 0dB @ 1Khz RIFF file, the output should be at or near the same.

...and that it played audio, confirming that it was supported...
