Audio always set on Mute and Escaping the Full Screen

Hi listmates,

When I open any video in VLC it's auto-set to Mute with an X over it even when I have not set that.

I have to click Increase Volume many times to heart the video but Mute is still selected with that X over it.

I rarely want Mute as I would prefer to just lower the volume.

How do I un-Mute and keep it un-Muted?

Also, when I choose Full Screen I can't escape it by pressing the Escape key or Ctrl + Z.

I have to Close VLC.

Is there a way to escape Full Screen?

Thank you.

You can toggle fullscreen on and off by hitting the letter F .

I opened Preferences but I don't see Reset All Preferences anywhere.

I looked in Interface,m Audio.

Can you pls, post a graphic of where I'm supposed to see the Reset Preferences?

Is that the only way to un-Mute?

Thanks.

To un-Mute hit M, or click Audio on the toolbar and click Mute in the menu.

It's possible that the audio module is set to "Disable". You can check by hitting Ctrl + P to open prefs and then clicking All at the bottom of the opening menu (to the left of the big Reset Preferences button).

In the Advanced menu which opens open the Audio subtree and click Output modules in the left hand pane.

In the right hand pane you'll see "Audio output module". The default is Automatic, but you can change it to another option if you wish. If it's set to Disable change it to Automatic and then Save, exit and restart vlc. Below that the Media role is "Video". But again that can be changed. Here's a pix.
