Issue with Chromecast rendering

I'm sorry if this issue has been posted and answered before, I have found many similar issues but am none the wiser as to how to fix this. Until a couple of weeks ago I had been streaming local audio files (FLAC) with VLC to my Chromecast Audio for some time, without issue. Streaming local audio with VLC stopped working during playback, without warning, and without making any changes to VLC or the operating system (as I remember the PC was just running VLC at the time). I have since tried factory reseting the Chromecast Audio device (although I can still cast from other software on the same PC) and I have tried reinstalling VLC (to the latest version).

I am running Windows 10 Home v.20H2 build no. 19042.1348. VLC version is 3.0.16.

Bumping because if anyone may be able to help with this issue it would be gratefully appreciated. I've been using VLC for over 10 years but now I find myself looking for alternative audio software.. I've recently reset my home network setup and it's still an issue specific to VLC

Hey, not sure I have the same issue, but with the Chromecast Audio I am able to play .opus files, but not .mp3's. They seem to hang. Have you tested this with a .opus file or would that also give no sound?

I am looking for a way to have it play the .mp3 with my chromecast audio.

This is the error code that I am getting for mp3's, which seem unrelated to your problem
