Stop VLC from going to video from Play List view

Hail all:

System:
w10Pro_x64 21H1
VideoLAN VLC 3.0.16_x64 Vetinari

When opening Play List, and starting music, VLC automatically opens the video, resizing the VLC window.
In Preferences, Interface, QT I have disabled Resizing, and:
I already set, editing the Config file with an external editor, to:
vlcrc.noresize (added this line)
qt-video-autoresize=0

But none of this is working, sadly, VLC keeps reverting to Video, resizing the window as well.

Now, how do i prevent this phenomena from happening?

Thank you.
Xog.

To prevent vlc from opening a video when playing music extract the audio to an mp3 using the Convert menu: https://www.vlchelp.com/convert-video-audio-mp3/

To prevent vlc from resizing open preferences (Ctrl + P) and remove the checkmark from "Resize interface to video size" in the Interface menu (first menu which opens in preferences). Save, exit and restart vlc.

Thank you.

So, no means beyond that?
I have like 6 to 7'000 songs ... O_O
Imagine, i would start to MP3 them all ...
Even though a heavier machine, that will take a wee, and I know as I have Ant Video File Converter ...

There are various free utilities around the web which can batch extract audio from video files. Maybe try a few of those. Here's a few examples: https://listoffreeware.com/free-softwar ... r-windows/

Sir, I said, I have Ant Video File Converter.
It does batches too, since it's a full version.

That aside, 7000 songs, no batch program can handle that.
On top, it would be, IF it could, be converting for 2 weeks, some of them are 1H plus in music/video size!!!

I could get WinAmp back (I used to be a WinAmp Pro User), but even modern music programs fail with Random Play, playing only a "handful" of the entire list.
Which, oddly, VLC handles darn well.

Only issue is, though it is also a music player, I cannot just play music videos with it, and keep the Play List open meantime!
For a program that can handle music, this is an odd missing feature!

Brings me back to: So, there's no other way?

IF not, then this is a request for next version ...

A possible workaround is to hit Ctrl + L when a music video starts playing which returns you to playlist mode with the video continuing to play in the bottom left hand corner. If you can live with that it should save you from having to create mp3 files for all of them. Here's a pix of what it looks like.
