Decklink? Multiple outputs? Good audio?

I was hoping to use 3 instances of VLC on Win10 playing their own playlists to respective HD-SDI outputs on 2 Blackmagic cards- one DUO and one Mini Monitor.
I have achieved this from another player so I know the hardware works.
I have read the decklink related posts, installed the decklink DLL v1.0.1.
I almost got there... I get a "Decklink video output" and respective audio selection in setup, and it works to the mini monitor,
but there is nothing listed for the DUO card.
I saw a prior post on that same subject from 2014

Which ends, I think with it working but with messed up audio.
Is there a fundamental problem with VLC and blackmagic cards?
Should I expect it to ever work with all the cards and be able to run multiple outputs with audio or move on?
