A DVD would not launch automatically. I got a pop up saying there is a new version VLC 3.0.14 Vetinari. I tried to download it and it is impossible. It says it is downloaded and ask if I want to close VLC and install. I click on INSTALL and nothing happens. I check for downloads and there is nothing downloaded. I now have version 3.0.12 Vetinari. What is going on. Very bad service.

Had a lot of trouble with my VLC Media Player version 3.0.12 Vetinari installed 2/27/2012.
A DVD I wanted to watch would not automatically open the DVD. Instead I got a notice that there was a problem with the update and it would not run the DVD. I tried to download and install VLC version 3.0.14 Vetinari as per the instructions. It said it downloaded but would not install so I looked in the download folder and nothing. It never downloaded as the VLC screen said. I wrote to the FORUM and got to responses. Everything saying to download and install version 3.0.14 Vetinari. At the bottom of one of the VLC notices I noticed a button to install version VLC 3.0.16 for Windows. I did that and it left both 3.0,12 and 3.0.16 on my computer. However only 3.0.12 would open. I had to uninstall 3.0.12 then go back to the download of 3.0.16, reopen the file and reinstall. What a mess!

The 64-bit is the default download so just click the blue button.

As regards 3.0.12 and 3.0.13 a mistake was made in the coding whereby the automatic update failed. Users were advised to download 3.0.13 manually. However, another problem appeared whereby 3.0.13 wouldn't run properly on Windows 8.1. That was later fixed in version 3.0.14. Some other minor problems erupted later and most were addressed with the release of 3.0.16.
