Hello,
I've got a problem with playing x265 (10 bit) coded videos. When I play these videos on my laptop everything is all right. As soon as I connect my laptop to the TV via HDMI, I can play, let's say, 15-20 minutes of the movie without any problems and after that the video stops and the audio is still going on. My computer spec is Inter Core i5 6300HQ (Skylake), the graphics is GeForce GTX950M. Win10 operating system. Does anybody have any clue what's going on?

Is your TV 4K compliant? If so, please post the make and model.

Do you have an Optimus laptop? The reason I'm asking is because according to the Intel site for you CPU, it has Intel HD 530 graphics. https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en ... pecs-1-0-1

An Optimus machine in that respect has two graphics solutions namely Intel graphics and an nVidia GPU. I have one of these myself. In vlc video defaults to the Intel graphics which has to share memory with the CPU. To get around that problem you have to copy the vlc.exe and rename it to something else and place it in the same directory. After that you can force the machine to use the nVidia GPU via the nVidia control panel.

This time instead of totally "pausing" the video it plays 3-4 frames in a loop and the audio is still going on. What do you think about it?

As for the TV it's LG 65UK6400PLF, so it should be compliant.

I checked the specs for your TV and it has three HDMI 2.0 ports which is the latest HDMI spec. More details on that score here

However, your laptop which dates from 2015 will likely have the HDMI 1.4 specification. That's not such a big problem since HDMI 2.0 is backwards compatible with previous version. But it does mean that data transfer rates will be slowed down to the 1.4 spec even if you use an HDMI 2.0 cable. More info on both specifications here

You could check the laptop manufacturer's site to see if there's a firmware upgrade available which might help otherwise try a different output module in vlc settings (Ctrl + P to open and then click Video button and select from there).

Yes, you're correct. Apologies. HDMI 2.0 arrived in 2013 so that would include your laptop which also makes it compatible with your TV.

Open prefs (Ctrl + P) and click Input / Codecs and change "Hardware-accelerated decoding" to "Direct3D11 video acceleration". Save, exit and restart vlc. If that doesn't help change it to "DirectX Video Acceleration (DXVA) 2.0". A restart is required again when you make configuration changes in vlc.
