Can you accelerate the release of VLC 3.0.15?

Postby biffster » 06 Jun 2021 02:34

I'm currently having a difficult time using VLC due to this bug. Older versions of VLC have a security flaw, so rolling back isn't an issue. I also can't switch away from D3D11 as D3D9 either doesn't provide the features I need or crashes (see here).

Looks like it's not scheduled to be released for some time. Any way to pass the current latest code through whatever testing is required and release it?

The thread you linked to on gitlab states that the problem was fixed by installing a nightly build namely 3.0.15. You can get it from here: https://nightlies.videolan.org/

Yeah, I'm aware of that. I didn't want to install a nightly. The severity of the problem seems like it justifies a patch release to address it.

What an ironical request considering the problem you're mentioning appeared because we had to push release for security
:!: If you want your problem to be solved :
* First read troubleshooting guide VSG:Main
* Always provide verbose LOGS ! (command line or from gui)
* Always check your issue against a developer build from Nightly Build of VLC
* Tell us when your problem is solved !
