Dolby Atmos for Headphones not working on VLC

Postby Jiehfeng » 16 May 2021 14:04

The Dolby Atmos for Headphones works for the Dolby Access app when I play a sample from the given videos in the app and when I click on the volume button in the taskbar it says the atmos is in use. The Netflix app works as well and it shows it is being used.

However with VLC it doesn't. I am using a USB DAC btw and for some reason VLC doesn't play the Atmos with it, but when I played it with a normal 3.5mm output the atmos works just fine, so there must be some issue with the DAC and VLC not working right together. But since Netflix and such works then there's something wrong with VLC.

I've already tried this: https://www.reddit.com/r/VLC/comments/d ... os_in_vlc/

Didn't work, I reverted back now. Can anybody help please?

EDIT:

Okay, glad I didn't give up, somehow found the solution. I opened MediaInfo on the movies I was trying to watch, and I checked the audio sample rate and it said 48KHz, so I checked my DAC settings and it was set to 44.1KHz. I thought setting it to 48 would get it to work and it did! Atmos now works with the movies. (you can change the sample rate in the audio control panel in the advanced tab on Windows).

TL;DR I fixed the issue hours after posting this thread, you guys can carry on. :)

I'll make a note of that for future reference. Thanks for posting.

That's the requirements of "passthrough": Both sides must speak the same.
