Delay In Video After Jump with latest version

I just updated to 3.0.14 and I am noticing a much longer delay in the video starting after jumping forward more than just a few seconds. The audio starts immediately but the video takes a good 4 or 5 seconds before it begins to play. I was playing the exact same files in the previous version and this was not happening. Sometimes the delay can be as long as 7 or 8 seconds. It also does not matter what quality the video is. It happened with large, high res videos and smaller, lower res videos. Has anyone else noticed this?
Running on Windows 10 with all the latest updates.
Update: Downgrading to 3.0.11 immediately fixed this issue and there is barely any delay when jumping or seeking with the slider.

I don't know why Lotesdelere is linking to another thread, wherein he also links to this thread, but this is also happening with me and it makes using VLC for windows unimaginably annoying and I came here looking for a fix to this

I made this for showing there are several reports about this issue with the hope the devs will notice it.
So you should create a new ticket on the VLC Trac with your above report and the link to this thread:

Hello friends !
I have exactly the same problem : I downgrade the version and it works again perfectly.
This 3.0.14 seems to have a serious problem, then.

I tried to open a tick on the VLC Trac but I find it very complicated to create an account, double-check things and everything...
Okay, I found out how to do it, and here is the ticket :

i confirm the same problem here. Using VLC 3.0.14 win32 it's really slow opening a video with --start-time=xxx
No difference enabling / disabling hardware acceleration.
Back to 3.0.12 it's super fast
I see in the read me:
Video Output:
* Rework the D3D11 rendering wait, to fix choppiness on display
maybe they broked something! as usual!

I raised this as
https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=157186. My symptoms are similar but not identical:
- it is provoked by pressing the frame-by-frame button several times to single-step through a video; pressing pause/play several times doesn't seem to cause the problem
- when I resume playing, the video (almost) never resumes - I've waited several minutes with sound playing and the counter advancing
This affects various formats of video, all UK format and recorded off-air: 720x576x25 TS, 720x576x25 MPG, 1920x1080x25 TS.

Can you guys confirm that switching the video output module to Direct3D9 solves the problem?

I can confirm that switching video output from Automatic to Direct3D 9 resolve the issue.

Mine was on "Direct3D 11" already and I have the issue.
I tried to switch to others and I had still the delays.

Downgrading to a version below 3.0.13 places your system at risk of the exploit in this article:

EDIT:
fast forward can also be achieved using Ctrl + right arrow key. Hold down Ctrl and repeatedly hit the right arrow. Might seem a little more cumbersome, but it works.

you must switch the video output (not the decoder setting)

OK!
Got it.
Will upgrade and try.
Do we know if this is the only working option?

I have this problem too, switching to any of the options in video didn't work, sometimes it's a green screen with audio, sometimes a black one, sometimes it's just frozen

Tried everything else mentioned here & elsewhere. Turning off Fast Seek, counterintuitively, fixed it.
