Error when trying to flip a video from right to left

I am using the current version of VLC Media Player (3.0.12)
I have a mp4 video that was originally recorded flipped - right to left; I am trying to reverse that.
I did the following:
Tools -> Effects and Filters -> Video Effects -> Geometry I chose: Transform Flip Horizontally
I then saved and closed/
I then under Media -> Open File I chose the input file
I then selected Convert / Save
It then prompted me for the input file (again - I found this unusual since the file is already opened).
Under Convert / Save I selected Convert
I browsed to save the output file in c:\Temp and clicked Start.
The program closes unexpectedly with this message:
Oooops: VLC media player just crashed.
Would you like to send a bug report to the developers team?
I responded Yes.
Environment is Windows 10 64-bit Intel platform.

If you need any further information please respond and I will try to provide it.
BTW I don't know where the bug report got uploaded to and also I do not where to find the log file.

Above is part of your opening post. You can stop at this point and don't need to go to Media ---> open file etc.

I downloaded and installed VLC Media Player (3.0.14); I am now able to "flip" the video and it previews as expected.
However, when I try to "Convert/Save" the file it closes unexpectedly.
How do I save the "flipped" file?

My original file size is: 798,262 KB
The output file size is: 371,252 KB

Why is the output file size smaller than the original file??
Also, the output file does NOT contain the "Flipped" (i.e. corrected) version of the file - it appears to be just a smaller size of the original file.

Hi. I am simply trying to save a video I flipped horiz. in VLC on deaktop w Windows, to a new filename which I can then post to my friends and Social Media. Embareassed to day it's a short GOLF driving range vid of approx. 15mins. I am a normal "rightie" golfer, but I used Android camera to take using front camera and so the video is flipped making me look Leftie. :-)

I successfully opened video fe in VLC, changed the Tools/Effects/Geom.../FlipHorizontally and it plays as flipped to Rightie (which was great!).

NOW, I want to save such flipped video to a newly named file so it cod be played by others, FaceBook, Windows Media Player, etc. I am smart guy but feeling very dumb and frustrated I can't figure out how to simply save the flipped to Rightie vid on my screen in VLC program to a new file in .mp4 or similar.

Huge thanks if this can be explained to me.

You need to activate and to set up the Rotate filter in Tools -> Preferences -> Show settings: All -> Video -> Filters
Once done you must save, exit and restart VLC for the changes to be applied.
And don't forget to turn if off after saving your file otherwise it will be applied to any other video you will play in VLC
