SOLUTION FOR Beeping & Non DTS Files Won't Play Audio

I have a set of Logitech speakers hooked up via optical to my PC. I’ve found how to solve the beeping problem!! I decided to perform a search ‘logitech optical pc connection causing beeping sound’ and came up with the following link. https://appuals.com/how-to-fix-the-logi ... n-windows/
What I found is interesting. It turns out that the beeping with certain files is caused by the Windows Sound settings “Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device” and “Give exclusive mode applications priority”. SEE NUMBER 5 further down in this post.
Once I unchecked them, viola!...the beeping is gone!!
Now for the odd part. The site says to enable the enhancements (under the Enhancements tab-SEE NUMBER 7) by unchecking “Disable all enhancements”. Well, this had no effect so far on the files I’ve tried as far as beeping.
However, what it did do is stop the Windows video preview (which plays the file’s video in a folder just by placing the cursor on it-if you have single-click enabled) from playing. So I rechecked the “Disable all enhancements”option because I like using the video preview.
To get to all of the pertinent Windows settings is as follows:
1. Right-click on the Volume icon located at the bottom right part of your screen and choose Sounds.
2. Navigate to the Playback tab of the Sounds window which just opened up.
3. Select your Output and click on Properties. Mine is Realtek Digital Output.
4. Under the Supported Formats tab in the Encoded formats box, I have DTS Audio and Dolby Digital checked. In the below box Sample Rates, all but 192.0 kHz is checked.
5. Under the Advanced tab, 2 channel, 16 bit, 96000 Hz (Studio Quality) is selected in the pulldown.
This is where you set exclusive control.
6. Spatial sound is off.
7. Go to the Enhancements tab to get to what I posted earlier.
At the moment I can’t find a file that won’t play the audio in VLC. I don’t remember which ones they were. Since my original post, VLC had an update, so it may have fixed that problem. If I find any files that still does that, I’ll come back and post about it.
