VTS_01_1 file does not play

I have a Panasonic DMR-BWT735 which allows me to create dvd format items from recorded tv programmes,
writing them to DVD-RW,copying on to PC storage (internal hard disk). I use Windows 7 on my PC.

Video_TS folder contains files

VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS IFO
VTS_01_0.BUP
VTS_01_0 IFO 42Kb
VTS_01_1 DVD VOB 99Gb
VTS_01_2 DVD VOB 99GB
VTS_01_3 DVD VOB 99GB
VTS_01_4 DVD VOB 542Mb

If I click on VIDEO.TS or any of VTS_01_0 thru VTS_01_41, Windows Media Player will open, and play the film data,
always starting at the first scene contained in VTS_01_1.

If I ask file VTS_01_1 to OPEN With VLC, VLC opens in a Window, but does not play the file or give any error messages.
It seems to "ignore" it.

Opening the other files with VLC (VIDEO.TS and VTS_01_2, etc ) works fine.
VIDEOTS play the film data, starting at the first scene contained in VTS_01_1.
VTS_01_0 as VIDEO_TS
VTS files (2,3 or 4), play in VLC but starting at the scene in that particular file.
That is not a problem, and in some respects better than the Windows Media Player approach

I find this a bit strange.
There is obviously something in VTS_01_1 which VLC does not recognise or like,
but it will play it successfully if I access it from VIDEO.TS.

Any thoughts? Thank you

To help you, we need messages, to completely understand what your problems is.
To fix this, please be sure before you start the playback to:
  1. Open: Tools -> Messages.
  2. Set Verbosity to 2
  3. Start playback to reproduce your issue
  4. Save text in a file or copy into clipboard
  5. Then paste the full resulting log here between [code]and[/code] (or use Pastebin.com if it's too long)
Also don't forget to name your Operating System and provide the VLC media player version.
