Hi,

Is Airplay available in VLC 3.0.11 under Windows?

I have an Apple TV on my network, but under "Renderer", VLC shows only "<Local>" and greyed out "Scanning...".

I would like to play a DVD on my Windows PC and show it via Airplay on the Apple TV.

Airplay isn't available in the current version of vlc as far as I'm aware, but is likely to be included in the forthcoming version 4.0

OK, great thanks, will be eagerly awaiting v4 then! Actually stumbled over an article on chip.de which said VLC supported Airplay, but I guess that is fake news then.

That article refers to vlc for Mac, not Windows.

Ah, OK, now I understand, thanks for the clarification.

AirPlay is available on MacOS and, via PulseAudio, on Linux because those systems expose the AirPlay device as a regular sound card. There is no bespoke AirPlay support in VLC at this time.

(There may be third party software to expose AirPlay as a Windows audio device, but I do not know of any in particular.)

I was also inquiring about an alternative to iTunes for streaming to the Apple TV box such as VLC

I was not able to get VLC to login to windows 10 for shares etc
