Since the new Windows update (and before that, come to think of it), when I tried to open VLC, I'd get the "oops! VLC just crashed! Would you like to report the bug?" message. After I chose "Yes," the program would open. I could not directly open files. VLC now had to be open first, and then I would select the file within the program. Clunky, but hey, it still worked.
As of the last three days, VLC will not open. I can right-click on the icon til my finger is sore; I can right-click on music and video files and choose "Open With VLC..." nothing. I tried reinstalling the program. You know that last step of the installation, where the box is checked to open VLC? Nada. It's deader than a mackerel.
Is the new Windows update the cause of this comatose state for my favorite media player? I am using MPC-HC in the meantime. It's a fine player, but I'm so used to the streamlined precision of VLC...I hope there's some salvation for this media player! Any serious advice is much appreciated...thank you.
