Two Videos at Once

I believe it is possible to play two videos at the same time in VLC.

I am trying to setup so that I can use a screen-recorder to record the result.

Can anyone please tell me how to do this please.

One above the other or Side-by-Side - it doesn't matter - just as long as they both start playing at exactly the same time. (A live clock is displayed in both videos)

Thank you.

Ian

You could try splitting the screen and then launch vlc in both of them.

Hi Hitchhiker.

Thanks for your speedy response and excellent suggestion.

Unfortunately I belong to the many millions of computer dinosaurs who refuse point blank to have anything to do with Windows 10.

Thanks again.

The ability to split the screen was introduced in Windows 8.0 so if you're running that or 8.1 you can still use it.

If you don't have that either please post OS together with the make and model of PC or laptop.

Hi Hitchhiker,

Nope -- not even Windows 8.
I made a conscious decision to stay with Win7 as long as possible and then, when forced, will move to Linux rather than remain with Microsoft.

I know that Win7 allows for multiple windows using "Snap" but that brings with it the problem of synchronisation.

I've installed a recommended earlier version of VLC which seems to have the function required. I'd say this is going to solve the problem.

Thanks for all your help to date - greatly appreciated.
