ASIO Output? How?

Postby mixu » 27 Dec 2005 21:33

Hello all,

I have been reading this forum for a while now. And now I need your help with something. I understand that it is possible to use VLC with an ASIO sound card. Could one of you walk me trough the settings. I could not get anything out from my Alesis IO2 USB sound device.

I tried to search for the old posts for help, but with no luck.

I've noticed that in the nightly builds this module has disappeared.

Could this be fixed and why use portaudio? How about letting VLC use the ASIO API directly?

ASIO??

Postby Chasgag » 20 Feb 2007 22:13

Hi,

I just started playing with VLC media player, I would like to us it as a transport for real time A/V stream. However I can't do high-res multichannel audio stream until ASIO is supported. (By ASIO
I mean both i/p and o/p, so it simply passes uncompressed 5-ch PCM audio from input ASIO device onto output stream).

I have been following the ASIO story, so I know this is spare-time work for developers. But any idea when ASIO might be re-implemented?

Many thanks!

Chas
