A long list but many hotkeys are not present.
https://www.vlchelp.com/vlc-media-player-shortcuts/

Especially ctrl+F is not available.

What is the difference between hotkey and shortcut?
How to turn shortcut to hotkey?

Ctrl+F works for me.

A hotkey is system global whilst a shortcut is within the app only.
You can modify these settings in Tools -> Preferences -> Hotkeys, but be very careful when setting global hotkeys as it will have effects on your whole system. Tip: don't use simple keys for hotkeys but combinations (Ctrl+Key, Alt+Key, etc).

Thanks.
I need to select hotkey and set it's keyboard shortcut.
But since "Open Folder" isn't on my vlc hotkey list I can't figure out how to change it's keyboard shortcut.
I use gyro remote control which provides only preset keyboard combinations.

How to convert shortcut into hotkey?

There are three types of key associations:
  • The global ones in the VLC preferences which work in any context (by default, there are no such associations).
  • The local ones in the VLC preferences, which work when VLC has focus.
  • The GUI-specific ones, which work when the main VLC UI window has focus (those cannot be changed).
Ctrl+F is of the latter.

Thanks for your reply.

My question is why I can't see/set hotkey to ctrl+F in VLC menu -> Tools/preferences/hotkeys

As according to this site I'd hope to have it there so much, is there something I can do to include ctrl+F in hotkeys list?

Having ctrl+F shortcut is not sufficient, until user can't change it - since I have air (gyro) remote (mouse) controller with predetermined function buttons.

For excample I have a remote menu button without any use in vlc until not playing DVD.

Again: because it's in the third category.
