Cascaded popup windows screen capturing

Dear Gents
I am experiencing annoying problem with VLC trying to capture windows 10 desktop screen. Once I start recording then appears multitude pop up windows and I have to kill VLC running. I have same problem with another program OBS screen recorder. I suspect windows graphics, rendering, direct X etc. Can anybody advice where could be problem and how I could fix it? I want just record my windows screen to avi file together with audio. Many thanks for any advice. Kindest regards, andy
