No sound when playing ripped file on windows

Hi,
When I converted a file from a DVD disc to .mp4 using VLC media player the audio doesn't seem to play when I play it with windows, when I play the file with VLC media player there is no issues with audio, however, when the file is played on windows the audio doesn't work.
What can I do to fix this?
