Audio does not play from copied DVDs

I just downloaded VLC last week and used it to copy several DVD's to my PC that were saved as .mp4 files. When I go to play them, there is no audio. I wanted to add them to itunes eventually so I can play them via Apple TV to my TV. I did find a solution via a web search that allows the VLC player to play the audio but I cannot get any other player to play the audio. Thank you.

That's quite common. If you record DVD from VLC, most media players may not play correctly. You need to convert using like Handbrake.
