VLC 3.0.8 hanging when connecting to multicast

We've been using VLC 2.1.5 for years, we've recently updated to 3.0.8. We have a large number of Coretec encoders that we connect to using multicast. When we attempt to connect to these encoders using version 3.0.8 the VLC software will not play the video, it will not connect to other network streams known to work with 3.0.8 after we try to connect to the Coretec stream, and the VLC software will "hang" in the background when closed(leaving it's icon inside the icon arrow on the right of the taskbar) the only way to close it at that point is to kill it in task manager. We've tried this on multiple machines and networks.
