Subtitle Positioning - SRTs & WebVTTs

Hello. First time poster.
I'm currently using the 3.0.3 Vetinari edition of VLC to QC subtitles at my job. Our subtitle program, Lemony, is capable of exporting positioned SRTs (X/Y coordinates) and WebVTTs (%s) and can of course read them back with positioning in tact. But I was hoping to QC positioned SRTs and/or WebVTTs via VLC. This would allow more people to QC our work without having to buy extra licenses for our subtitle program. Everything I've tried so far still leaves the subs bottom center.
I know I can change the default position and even size and font, but I'm mostly interested in making sure that our exported subtitles move out of the way when underlapping text appears and then goes back to bottom center when it's all clear.
Is there such a way yet with the latest release of VLC or perhaps there is something totally obvious I'm not seeing?
Thanks,
-Erik
