Audio/Subtitle Language Fallback

Postby El3mental » 01 Dec 2019 21:29

I'm watching through some series with different language/subs options. Some I'm using English + English Songs for subtitles, others I'm using Japanese + English for subtitles. Setting the languages in preferences doesn't always work (other threads have said the language information may not be encoded in a readable way?) and with tracks ID's being varied I can't just set a certain track number and go. Anyway, the tool tip for language preferences says you can use "none" to disable fallback, but I'm not getting any fallback at all. This https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/2878 suggests "any" should allow for fallback but that's not working either. So does anybody know how to force VLC to fallback to the default language/subs if my preferred/listed ones don't exist?

Nobody? No idea why the automatic fallback or "any" doesn't work?
