Ad cover art from file doesn't work- VLC 3.0.7.1.

I'm able to choose a file for "Ad cover art from file" (CTRL-L - context Information) but the selected file is not saved. Other metadata (Album, Artist) I'm able to saved.

Same for me, using version 3.0.6
First I used an mp3tag editor and added album art to all the songs in a folder, but they do not appear in VLC.
Then in VLC I added the cover art to each song, one at a friggin' time, and the cover art is still not saved.

Ok, so I found a fix - first I upgraded to the latest version which I thought was 3.0.7.1 but my VLC still shows 3.0.6 Vetenari, whatever, then I opened C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\vlc\art\artistalbum\%username%\%albumname% and removed the two files that were in there - something simply called "file" and the album art that was there. Then when I reopened VLC it has the correct album art for my album.
