Instant crash in 3.0.7.1 in Windows 10 chosing either Open Network Stream or Convert/Save from Media menu

I am having this problem with VLC 3.0.7.1 ... It used to work.

I get an instant crash when I select either Media -> Open Network Stream or Media -> Convert / Save which is the other way to open a stream to save. VERY STRANGE. I turned on logging and set it to the hightest available verbosity (Debug), and I get the attached output when I try to Open Network Stream, then restart after the crash and try Convert / Save. For both ultimately it says:

main: playlist is empty
main debug: nothing to play

Log file for Media -> Convert Neteork Stream then Convert/Save:

I don't think a playlist should be needed to open a network stream. But I see in the main frame "Playlist is currently empty. Drop one here or Select a media source from the left."

However, if I click "Network Stream" under "Local Network" while a stream is playing it spins busy for a minute then stops without finding anything.

So there appears to be NO way to use either command for me now. Is there something I need to do to allow VLC to access the local network? Don't see any settings to enable or disable that.

Also, Convert/Save should not require network access at all, and it shoud bring up that interface to convert a local file WITHOUT A PLAYLIST, but it just crashes. No idea what would make it act this way just for me. I have seen other users elsewhere with the same issue (https://www.reddit.com/r/VLC/comments/c493p3/help_vlc_crashes_when_trying_to_open_network/)

WTF is wrong with my VLC settings, or my OS settings, or with VLC 3.0.7.1 on WIndows 10.0.14393.1770? (No updates are pending.)

I am having a similar problem with VLC 3.0.8 in Win7Pro.

Upon clicking Media >> Stream (or Ctrl+S), VLC crashes with following error message:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

Hello, I am having similar problem with VLC V3.0.14. (OS = W10 V20H2 ; was similar in V1803)
Starting VLC -> Ok
then: media -> convert/save... -->> VLC disappears instantly, no message, no pop-up. Always (totally reproducible).

With VLC I can read a media, but I can't convert, due to that instant crash.

Any idea ?

I converted a couple of files today without any issues so reset prefs and then try again:

Thanks! After resetting the prefs, the behavior has now changed.
VLC no longer crashes with de command.
I have been able to specify the files I want to convert et start the conversion process.
I will deal with the new error in another thread of the forum!
