I installed the update yesterday, and now I get a green bar across the bottom of playback window

I was playing a video yesterday and everything was fine. (It's always fine.)
I got the prompt to install the upgrade, so I did... I selected the default options.
(3.0.7 Vetinari)
After the update, I noticed a big (maybe 30% of the video display) green bar across the bottom of the video.
I restarted my computer and the green bar persisted.
I tried other video players and they were not exhibiting the problem. (MediaMonkey, for instance, worked perfectly.)
Any ideas what happened and how to fix it?
In its current state, it's unusable.

Go to preferences (ctrl+P) -> Video tab -> Output.
Change it to: 'OpenGL video output for Windows'
This worked for me, you might change it to another option.

1. hack one: tools/preferences/input codecs/
Disable hardware-accellerated decoding.
2. hack two: Go to preferences (ctrl+P) -> Video tab -> Output.
Change it to: 'OpenGL video output for Windows' (from the above post. Thanks Bob)
I tried both independently and they both work.

I just installed the "update" and had NO video playback what so ever. I applied both of the above listed "hacks"/workarounds and they corrected my condition.
Just wanted to say thanks for the "fix info".

Hi, it might fix some driver issues, but opengl is slower on windows. If you have time and don't mind loosing them, try resetting the preferences so it uses the default parameters. If you still have issues, we are eager to see your logs to fix this (because it would be an hardware issue we probably can't reproduce without these info).
To help you, we need
messages, to completely understand what your problems is.
To fix this, please be sure
before you start the playback to:

- Open: Tools -> Messages.
- Set Verbosity to 2
- Start playback to reproduce your issue
- Save text in a file or copy into clipboard
- Then paste the full resulting log here between
and
(or use Pastebin.com if it's too long)
Also don't forget to name your
Operating System and provide the
VLC media player version.

Wonky... I just got popup notice on my computer that where were VLC updates available (presumably to resolve the above problem.)
When I clicked on it, it launched the update manager - that told me "no updates available"
Ugh.

Hi unidan, sure, I'll do this for you when I get home tonight.
I prefer to help you fix the problem as opposed to working around it.
Best,

We had an issue with the driver blacklist. It became less restrictive because some devices were able to do direct3d11 without glitches and were blacklisted, but it allowed some broken drivers too. It will be fixed very quickly (before the end of the week) by a small update.

Thanks unidan. I guess you no longer need my logs?

I would do if the new update doesn't fix your issue.

Thank you for your help though !

@InTheWings, @unidan
My assumption is that all prior workarounds (above) should be reversed before installing the patch so that we can accurately assess if the fix actually fixed the problem.

Yes, 3.0.7.1 is out, please try again with automatic video decoding and video output.

Thank you team VLC, the 3.0.7.1 fixed the issue.
1. I turned off my hack (above) and was able to verify the green bar returned.
2. Updated VLC to 3.0.7.1
3. Launched VLC and the green bar is now gone.
