Screen flashes green when playing back certain videos

I posted a version of the following inquiry to this forum over one year ago, and I never got any responses. I've since upgraded to the latest version of VLC (3.0.6), and I'm unfortunately still having the same problem, so I thought I'd post again to hopefully find someone who could help. Do any of you have any ideas of how I can fix this??

> I'm use VLC 3.0.2 on Windows 7 64 bit. For some reason, certain .mov videos that I sho with my iPhone are not playing back correctly (but other ones are).

The video output is currently set to automatic, and when I try playing one of the videos in question, I get a sort of a strobe effect, a rapidly flashing green screen, while the video image is frozen in place. The audio seems to play as it normally should. Here's a portion of the log I just captured:

main debug: auto hiding mouse cursor
main debug: auto hiding mouse cursor

main debug: toggling pause

mmdevice debug: state changed: 1

main debug: picture might be displayed late (missing 5 ms)

The video appears to play perfectly in Windows Media Player.

I've gone through and tried selecting all the various video outputs, I've tried disabling hardware decoding, and I've reset the VLC player preferences, but none of those things seemed to improve the situation.

I've looked at the file details to try to figure out why some files play correctly and some do not, and it seems as though the ones that are glitchy were recorded at 59fps, while the ones that play correctly were recorded at 30fps. Is VLC incapable of playing back the higher quality files? If so, what should I do to fix this?

Thanks,
Scott

Hi, @jimson8, can you post full logs and information about your hardware ? did it fixed your issue ?

Like on the other post, here or there, can you post logs and information about your hardware?
To help you, we need messages, to completely understand what your problems is.
To fix this, please be sure before you start the playback to:
  1. Open: Tools -> Messages.
  2. Set Verbosity to 2
  3. Start playback to reproduce your issue
  4. Save text in a file or copy into clipboard
  5. Then paste the full resulting log here between [code]and[/code] (or use Pastebin.com if it's too long)
Also don't forget to name your Operating System and provide the VLC media player version.

I have a problem with VLC that I don't have with other media players. I have band that changes colour from green to purple in the lower part of the video

The quick fix for green flashes is to go to Video - DeInterlace and set to Off.
