NEW DVD DRM Shutting VLC down?

the movie "The Tale" by HBOfilms I believe uses a new DRM scheme? When opening the disk to look at files the .vob movie file is 4 gigs+ instead of multiple single .99gigs

there is a note on the back of the movie case that specifically says it won't play in any computer or other device that is not a standalone comercial dvd play only player.

I am using one of the older versions of vlc specifically due to compatability issues with my computer with the newer version of vlc.

There is an when I tried opening VLC, error send report to VLC but I could not send. when I closed that. I would see the disk in the dvd list and try to play it but it would shut the VLC program down all together. this does not happen with any other disk.

Yes, you should, sorry.

I will buy the DVD if that still happens in 3.0.6

Still happens with most recent version of vlc . I also am adding TV series APB to the list it also list files sizes in excess of .99gigs for vob files. this one 20 century fox I think the file size is reading 1.8 GIG-isish

both play on dedicated stand alone dvd players

when I open VLC select play then disk it shows the dvd but when i press play it reads then shuts VLC down.

the next time I start VLC. It tells me opps VLC crashed want to send report to developer team. I press OK and the box disappears and a new instance of VLC starts.

there is no error code being displayed

The old version of vlc I was able to get the dvd menu to display for APB. I tried playing without menu and I just get the 20centry fox intro vid on loop

By the looks of it Kodi is also having the same problem . Kodi shifts back to its main menu.

I am starting to wonder if microsoft secretly added drm to windows that overrides the program when it detects certain drm coding being played???
