VLC 3.0.4 Dropped Support for MXF Files?

Postby basspig » 26 Mar 2019 02:29

On earlier versions of VLC, I've always been able to play the MXF files that my Sony FS7 generates.

I recently migrated my NLE to Windows 10 from Windows 7, and installed the latest VLC as of February 2019. But I'm having a problem playing OP1a MXF files. VLC doesn't display an error message, but the screen simply flashes about 15 times per second when playing these files instead of playing the actual video properly, as with earlier versions on Win 7.

I noticed that I can cause this problem to appear with HEVC files by setting the CODEC number of threads to a number higher than about 5 o or 6. If I set it to 0, HEVC plays fine. I have dual Xeons so dozens of threads available.

I've also noticed this flickering with Quicktime files as well.

Did VLC drop support for these, perhaps over a licensing issue?

Try VLC 3.0.7 from nightly builds.
