No Sound when rendering Network-Stream to Chromecast-Audio

Hi there,
since a few days I can't render any network-streams (like this URL:
http://metafiles.gl-systemhaus.de/hr/hrinfo_2.m3u) to my chromecast-audio device.
Also all of the 'stations' at the Icecast Radio Directoty won't play. It worked before.
Youtube-Links or Playlists work perfectly on the Chromecast-Audio as well as local file playback.
I can hear the streams when selecting the 'local' rendering output on the laptop speakers, but as I switch to the Chromecast-Audio device I sometimes hear a chime, indicating a connection, but in any case nothing else happens.
I tried the following solutions, all without any success:
- update firmware of Chromecast-Audio
- reset of VLC
- re-install VLC
- re-install in different location of VLC
I'm running a MacBook pro with Windows 10 64Bit and VLC 3.06
Any help or suggestions?
cheers, error

Hi, can you post the logs?
To help you, we need
messages, to completely understand what your problems is.
To fix this, please be sure
before you start the playback to:
- Open: Tools -> Messages.
- Set Verbosity to 2
- Start playback to reproduce your issue
- Save text in a file or copy into clipboard
- Then paste the full resulting log here between
and
(or use Pastebin.com if it's too long)
Also don't forget to name your
Operating System and provide the
VLC media player version.

If it's the media-stream you're looking for: Here's the page where the link is offered:
https://www.hr-inforadio.de/service/liv ... m-100.html
It's a german radio station, but it doesn't matter, you can try any other network-streaming adress.
Here's the media file I downloaded.:
https://we.tl/t-icerS6zhD3
The Logfile is completely written in the pastebin-link above.
It's the network-streaming to the chromecast-audio which isn't working. I can stream any other source, even yooutube-playlists to the chromecast audio. The media-links or network stream is rendered to the kocal (laptop) speakers, but no sound when I'm switching to the chromecast-ausio device.
Cheers, error

Maybe I wasn't precise enough.
My problem is that the VLC player won't render a network stream to the Chromecast-Audio. Other sound sources than netwpork-streams work, no matter if I send .mp3 files, sound from CD etc. to the Chromecast audio, no problem with that.
The strange thing is that the network streams work on local speakers, e.g.the loudspeakers of my laptop, but not as soon as I switch to Chromecast audio: silence.
Any Idea?

Hi, it should be fixed with the 3.0.7 release, but it would be best if someone could confirm on the macosx side with the 3.0.7 nightly.

Thanks for the info. BTW: I'm running Windows on the MacBook, so I can't test it on MacOS.

You can still check that 3.0.7 fix your issue by testing the windows flavour
https://nightlies.videolan.org/
Be sure to test the 3.0.7 and not the 4.0.0

A few days later I tested 3.07 nightly...sorry, but no success.
Now bach to 3.06 and still wondering.

Hi everybody,
are there any news on this problem ? It seems like I am facing the same problem with VLC 3.0.7.1 on Windows 10.
This is what I tried:
- Playing local content to Chromecast-Audio: Working fine
- Playing network stream to local speakers: Working fine
- Playing network stream to Chromecast-Audio: No sound (only the chromecast “start sound” is playing, but nothing else)
I am using VLC 3.0.0 until now, because it is the only Version that is playing network streams to Chromecast-Audio for me. Many thanks for any help.
Here is a part of the log from VLC 3.0.7.1:

Hi,
It's the same situation between network and local content, except maybe the format.
Can you provide logs ?

Same here. Windows 7. I can send local files, CDs, etc., but not network streams. I can listen locally (pc's speakers) to streamed radio stations.

Hi Forum Members and VLC Team Experts
It seems a bit crazy that for months now it has not been possible to play audio streams, in my case music CDs, via VLC to Chromecast. After all, of the complicated things that have to be fixed in VLC casting to a Chromecast device should be one of the easiest.
Now, I'm just a simple soul that likes his music and, like a lot of people using VLC, would like to play CDs again. And as such, it would be great if someone from the VLC team could give us poor suffering, almost musicless
, souls an ETA for the return of this lost facility.
UK Bob
PS, there's probably no such word as "Musicless"
but it gets the point across
.

Hi, I don't know if some of the developer actually have one so it's a bit hard to debug, but can you provide a sample file ? (through the opening of a ticket on trac.videolan.org and upload through https://streams.videolan.org/upload/)

Hi Unidan
I'm somewhat mystified by your request, i.e. Can you supply a sample file? A sample file of what?
I put my music CD into my PC's external player, start VLC, and make sure the "Renderer" facility, under the "Playback" menu option, is set to my named Chromecast device (Living Room TV).
So you see, there is no intervening file or any other interaction with any other software, it's just that VLC cannot stream data, music or otherwise, to Chromecast since the recent Chromecast update, reported in this forum when the problem first cropped up.
As far as my Chromecast device is concerned, I can still cast YouTube videos and my digital albums to it via my android table without any problems, it's just that I can no longer play my CDs which, you must admit, is an unfortunate shame.

I am experiencing the problem originally and so clearly reported by reported by errorsmith. That is, no sound when casting an audio stream to a
Chromecast. The following stream demonstrates the problem:
http://streaming316.radionomy.com:80/SmoothJazzNewYorkCity
I am on 3.0.8 on Windows 10.
MP3s and other audio sources play fine.
And if I save part of the streamed audio as an MP3, that MP3 plays fine.
It seems like the issue relates to the fact that the VLC input is a stream.
My internet, connection is 90 mbps plus and I have no problem rendering the audio to my PCs speakers (it is clear and sharp).
On the TV screen to which the Chromecast is attached the radio station call sign (in graphic form) appears. Plus an endlessly turning broken
circle.
I really would like to be able to use this feature.

Exact same problem here on Windows 10 1909 with version 3.0.8 x64: Everything is fine, except for external streams, no sound at all when rendered on GCA (but works when rendered locally).
I uninstalled v3.0.8 and installed 3.0.0 x64 (portable). When I launched VLC, I got the Windows firewall pop-up, granted access and it worked
.
This had me suspect a firewall issue with v3.0.8. But both versions are granted pass-thru in the firewall so I think it is a bug/regression in v3.0.8.
Conclusion: Use v3.0.0 to render internet streams on Google Chromecast Audio.

Tried versions 3.0.10 and 3.0.11. New behavior but not working at all. Network streams to chromecast audio are playing for about 12 seconds and then breaking up after prefetch error
Back to 3.0.0 and all working well.
