No longer able to play H.264 from Tenvis IP camera

I used to be able to play H.264 files from the Tenvis IP camera by setting the Demuxer to "H264 video demuxer" in the Preferences.

I have tried again for the first time in a few months and they no longer play. All I get is the Play button flashing between the play icon and the pause icon.

Does anyone know if Tenvis or VLC has changed this format recently please?

Please share the logs with a VLC 3.0.6 and the default configuration.

Hi,
To help you, we need messages, to completely understand what your problems is.
To fix this, please be sure before you start the playback to:
  1. Open: Tools -> Messages.
  2. Set Verbosity to 2
  3. Start playback to reproduce your issue
  4. Save text in a file or copy into clipboard
  5. Then paste the full resulting log here between [code]and[/code] (or use Pastebin.com if it's too long)
Also don't forget to name your Operating System and provide the VLC media player version.

I am also not able to play .264 files (not labelled H.264) with VLC Version 3.0.6, but from a different brand of IP camera.
Windows 10, 64 bit, version 1709, build 16299.431

I have tried to change the Hardware-Accelerated Decoding to Direct 3D11, DirectX DXVA, and Disabled. There was no change with any setting.
The Demux Module is set to H264 Video Demuxer (in Advanced Preferences)
Graphics Card is a Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050, Driver Version 21.21.13.7654

I'd really appreciate any other suggestions or work arounds to view these .264 files.

When I turn on mode 2 debugging, the log produced is 2000 characters too long for a post. This is a reduced version:

I am seeing a similar problem. I too have a Tenvis ip camera and once was able to view the .264 video that it stores on the sd card. I am adding a new camera (different manufacturer albeit Chinese as well) and am not able to view it's files. I checked the old camera and they no longer work either. I am running VLC ver 3.0.7.1. The message output reads.

h26x error: this doesn't look like a hevc ES stream, continuing anyway
hevc error: Failed decoding PPS id 0...

Had the same issue with Tenvis files. Had no luck with VLC. Tried many updates and variations but still no luck. Found a suggestion on a security camera website to try PotPlayer. Worked like a charm. I downloaded the 64 bit version for Windows 10. Be sure to check the codecs when installing and include H.264.

Those files are only produced on old firmware. I can't reproduce.
Provide new sample.

That's not real support as you are losing the audio.

Provide new sample.
